  • Searcys joins the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry

    26 August 2021

At Searcys, we are proud to support London and its businesses. Our own Searcys story is closely connected to that of the capital, where the company was started by a Victorian entrepreneur John Searcy in 1847.

Searcys became one of the top London caterers and has since been famed for its warm and hospitable service and indulgent cuisine, making thousands of connections – connecting people of food and drink.

We are delighted to join the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the capital’s largest independent networking and business support organisation. Representing the interests of London businesses, the Chamber also creates thousands of connections every year and offers its members a wide range of practical and professional services.

Open to businesses of all sectors and sizes, members can benefit from a comprehensive events programme, profile-raising opportunities, professional business advice, exclusive central London meeting space, discounted export documentation and use of the new LCCI Community App.

The Chamber has an illustrious history. In 1782, plans were made for a Chamber of Commerce in the Cornhill part of the City of London. The proposed plan incorporated an information office for business and trade enterprises to use for “consultation, opinion, advice, information and assistance.” A subscription rate of not less than three guineas, a significant sum at that time, was suggested for the service. It took, however, another ninety-nine years of discussion before London had a Chamber of Commerce of its own. Finally, on 25 July 1881 London Chamber was established at Mansion House in the City of London with 130 members. A number of these firms or their successors still play a role in London Chamber today.

It achieved maturity with considerable speed and membership grew to over 3000 by 1892. This was a remarkable achievement for an organisation in just one decade.

For companies in the hospitality and leisure sector, LCCI membership provides a comprehensive package of services that enables your company to increase awareness of the offering, reach target markets and connect with PAs in the capital.
