Searcys Appointed The New Catering Partner At Stationers’ Hall11 January 2022
Starting the year on a high, British caterer and restaurateur, Searcys, announces its appointment as the new catering partner for Stationers’ Hall, providing catering services across the venue.
Located by St Paul’s Cathedral, Stationers’ Hall is one of the few ancient Livery Halls remaining in the City of London. Rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1673, the Grade I-listed building is currently undergoing a £7.5 million refurbishment, and will reopen its doors in July 2022 with the addition of air-cooling in the main rooms, step-free access throughout, and flexible event spaces.
Home to The Stationers’ Company, which was established in 1403 and whose members were text writers, illuminators of books and suppliers of parchment, pens and paper, Stationers’ Hall is now one of the city’s most sought-after venues for corporate and private events. In 2023, the Hall celebrates its 350th anniversary since being rebuilt, coinciding with Searcys own 175th anniversary celebrations this year.
Event spaces include a set of magnificent, interlinking rooms including the Main Hall with carved oak paneling dating back to the 1600s. Guests can also enjoy the beautiful garden – a rare feature in the centre of the City – that can be hired for weddings, receptions and parties.
The new spaces that have been added as part of the ambitious refurbishment programme, include an expansive meeting room, available theatre-style or as three separate board rooms and the ‘Charter Room’ – a new private dining space seating 12 with views of the secluded, landscaped garden. The building will also benefit from better public access, a lift to allow step-free access to all rooms, and an air-cooling system for the rooms.
Searcys will be bringing its 175 years of expertise in hospitality and events to cater across the venue, from meetings and banquets to receptions, weddings and hybrid events. Menus will showcase the best of seasonal produce from the British Isles with a variety of packages running from breakfast to fine-dining experiences. Awarded a three-star accreditation from the Sustainable Restaurant Association, Searcys will continue its drive for sustainability, including sourcing produce from local suppliers and reducing food waste across its menus.
Giles Fagan, Clerk of the Stationers’ Company, says: “With a £7.5m Hall investment programme underway, it was important that we found a catering company which fits in with our values but could also significantly contribute to the success of our relaunch. We are very pleased to be partnering with Searcys, whose heritage and high quality of food and service fits in perfectly with our vision. It is a fantastic time and opportunity to establish a new catering team and create excitement around our new event space for the future.’
Peter Martin, Searcys Account Director for Stationers’ Hall, says: “We are delighted to have been chosen by the Stationers Company to open the Hall after its extensive refurbishment. It is a fantastic opportunity to mark our double anniversaries – 350th and 175th – and we are looking forward to welcoming our first guests in the summer.”
