REOPENING THE BUSINESS OF EVENTS FROM 17 May 202122 April 2021
As Step 3 of the UK roadmap out of lockdown approaches next month, we are delighted to welcome business events such as conferences, exhibitions, charity auctions and private dining events such as gala dinners, award ceremonies and corporate hospitality from 17 May 2021 to our iconic venues.
All of these dates are in line with the government restrictions and could be subject to change as data is reviewed.
STEP 3: MONDAY 17 MAY 2021
The Government intends to allow indoor and outdoor events to commence from Step 3. Step 3 of the UK roadmap out of the lockdown will take place no earlier than 17 May, and at least five weeks after Step 2, (12 April), following a further review of the data and the four tests being met.
WHICH TYPES OF EVENTS ARE TO BE ALLOWED?
These include business events such as conferences, trade shows, exhibitions, charity auctions, and private dining events such as charity or gala dinners and awards ceremonies and corporate hospitality. All events must meet COVID-19 Secure requirements.
THE NUMBER OF ATTENDEES
The total number of attendees*) in an event is capped as:
- For indoor events – 1,000 people or 50% of a venue’s capacity, whichever is lower.
- For outdoor events – 4,000 people or 50% of a venue’s capacity, whichever is lower.
*) The cap is only for event attendees and doesn’t include event staff or volunteers.
- Rule of 6 indoors, groups of 30 outdoors.
- Catering and hospitality permitted in groups with table service required.
WEDDINGS TAKING PLACE FROM 17 MAY 2021
Up to 30 people allowed at ceremony and reception, which can be held at COVID-19 secure venue indoors or outdoors, including private gardens.
STEP 4: MONDAY 21 JUNE 2021 (EARLIEST)
The Government states that it aims to remove all limits on social contact, including wedding restrictions, subject to all the necessary requirements being met.
