Celebrating 120 Years of the IoD

We are delighted to invite you to join us on June 13, 2023, at 116 Pall Mall for the celebration of 120 years of the Institute of Directors (IoD).

The Institute of Directors (IoD) was founded in 1903 by 23 prominent businessmen, led by Lord Avebury, a banker who introduced the Bank Holidays Act of 1871. The IoD received its Royal Charter in 1906, recognizing its role in promoting free enterprise, lobbying government, and setting standards for corporate governance and moved to its current residence 116 Pall Mall in 1978. One of its significant milestones was the launch of the world’s first accredited qualification for directors in 1999, which was the only globally recognised Chartered Director qualification underpinned by the IoD’s Royal Charter.

The IoD remains a bastion of good governance, inclusion, and diversity, and has been shaping the business world and supporting directors and leaders in their professional development for over a century, and we are excited to commemorate this milestone with an afternoon of insightful presentations, interactive sessions with industry experts, and exhibitions, all designed to connect like-minded professionals.

Searcys has been at the IoD since 2021 as events caterer and restaurateur, opening the Carlton Brasserie, Searcys Champagne Bar, as well as launching ticketed events such as Afternoon Tea and Champagne Masterclasses, making the building available to the public for the first time in 116 Pall Mall’s history. With a focus on British signature dishes, seasonal ingredients, and exceptional service, Searcys at 116 Pall Mall has established itself as a leading destination for corporate and private events in the heart of St James in London.

Join us to celebrate the Institute’s 120th birthday this June. Starting at 3:30 to 8:00 pm, the celebration will feature exhibitors from the world of business and hospitality, such as Searcys, Hiscox, Bupa, Hertz, Nurole, and the Association of Business Mentors (ABM), showcasing their latest products and services. There will also be tours of the 116 Pall Mall building and the opportunity to network with fellow leaders in business.
