Behind the Lens: Showcasing Events at The Portrait Restaurant
20 August 2026The Portrait Restaurant has long been one of London’s most distinctive space for private dining and events. Above the National Portrait Gallery, the restaurant combines Richard Corrigan’s cooking philosophy with panoramic views across the capital, making it a natural choice for everything from client entertainment to milestone celebrations.
Recently, we spent an evening capturing new photography of the space, offering an opportunity to highlight the restaurant, its event spaces and the people behind them.

Working from mood boards, floorplans and a detailed shot list prepared in advance, the team transformed the restaurant throughout the evening, creating a series of different event settings that reflected the variety of occasions hosted at The Portrait Restaurant.
Showcasing The Space
Some settings focused on large gatherings, making the most of the restaurant’s generous dining room and panoramic views across Trafalgar Square both during day time and at night. Others concentrated on smaller tables and more intimate celebrations, where details such as table, floral arrangements and natural light helped create a sense of occasion.

What became clear throughout the day was just how much the surroundings contribute to every event held here. The restaurant space offers guests a perspective of London that constantly changes with the light, the weather and the seasons. It is a view familiar to the team, but one that still managed to stop people in their tracks between shots.
Semi-Private Dining
For smaller gatherings, The Portrait Restaurant’s semi-private dining area offer a sense of privacy while retaining the energy of the restaurant, passing an lively open kitchen.

Whether entertaining clients, gathering colleagues around the table or celebrating with friends and family, the semi-private area combines exceptional food, iconic views, and warm hospitality to create an event that leaves a lasting impression. The recent photoshoot focused on beautifully dressed tables and smaller dining experiences, reflecting the type of occasions hosted here throughout the year.
