An update from Searcys
19 March 202019 March 2020
Dear friends of Searcys,
It is with a heavy heart that we send you this message today. Covid-19 has become an unprecedented threat that has affected us all, across the world, in unimaginable ways and our thoughts go out to all of those affected, directly and indirectly.
From our beginnings in 1847 to the present day, our customers and people have been at the heart of everything we do. So it is with that in mind that we have made the decision to close 80% of our venues, restaurants and bars from Thursday 19 March until further notice. We are having to take it one day at a time in order to rapidly adapt to an unpredictable situation and will be updating you accordingly. This has been a very difficult decision, but ultimately our staff and guests’ health must come first.
In our long history, Searcys has seen many wonderful events but also significant challenges, and today we face one of those difficult times. We hold the Searcys’ values close to our hearts and consider our teams to be our family and so will be there to support them, and you, in the best way we can. All restaurant and event bookers are being contacted. We are doing all we can to secure jobs long term. We continue to liaise with our people to ensure their future and that of our business.
To support event organisers through this period, we have put in place the following measures:
– If organisers feel any hesitancy with regards to an existing booking, we will facilitate alternative arrangements through our Exclusive Events team on 020 7101 0220 or online at www.searcys.co.uk.
– Events that were booked to take place at the closed venues after 19 March, in April or May this year, can be rescheduled for any time before the end of September 2020 with no cancellation charge.
Our reservations, sales and event planning teams use fully integrated cloud technology, with state-of-the-art mobile and team-working systems, so are equipped and ready to support you remotely.
We would like to extend a special message of thanks to all our teams for their dedication and support through this difficult time – we will keep you updated as to how this situation unfolds.
In the meantime, we will continue to work in a variety of different ways, and you can stay up-to-date on all Searcys restaurants and venues via our website www.searcys.co.uk and social media @SearcysLondon. Keep an eye out for tips on baking and for cooking at home, which we will be sharing with you over the coming weeks.
We very much look forward to serving you in the near future.
Matt Thomas, Managing Director,
on the behalf of the Searcys team
