  • Christmas Tips and Trends from Searcys

    3 December 2025

As the festive season gathers pace, few names in British hospitality carry the weight of tradition quite like Searcys. Established in 1847, the same year London’s Tom Smith introduced the Christmas cracker, the company has long been part of the fabric of Christmas entertaining. Today, its teams continue that legacy across some of the UK’s most recognisable buildings, delivering celebrations defined by thoughtful planning, polished service and a keen understanding of what makes a seasonal event truly memorable.

This year, demand is strong, particularly across Searcys’ larger venues.

“We’re seeing particularly strong momentum at spaces like Horizon 22 and 116 Pall Mall,” says Hannah Felton, Head of Central Sales at Searcys. “Exclusive party bookings came in earlier than last year, which is a real indicator of client confidence. Much of it comes down to repeat business and loyalty, with some clients even securing multi-year contracts.”

Felton notes that all-inclusive packages remain a popular choice, with many organisers adding upgrades as their event approaches. Formats are varied, from sit-down dinners to Champagne-led receptions, but one area has evolved significantly: Entertainment.

“Clients are going beyond the familiar photobooths and DJs,” Felton explains. “They’re looking for something with personality. That might be bespoke artwork created by designers, more immersive theming, or elements guests can take home. Caricaturists are having a real moment, and corporate gifting is becoming more curated.”

Theming, too, has become more ambitious. At The HAC, this year’s Old Hollywood Glamour concept is proving a standout. Guests step into a dreamscape inspired by 1930s and 1940s Tinseltown, complete with atmospheric styling, a retro photobooth, black-tie elegance and a programme of optional upgrades ranging from burlesque performances to themed cocktails, gaming tables and late-night extensions.

Across the Searcys portfolio, private dining demand is also on the rise. At The Gherkin, five versatile private dining rooms offer flexible layouts for boardroom meetings, standing receptions and banqueting. Meanwhile, at St. Pancras Brasserie & Champagne Bar, guests can choose between the newly refreshed Tasting Room (featuring artwork by Kristjana Williams), the adaptable Glass Room overlooking the station concourse, or the ever-popular Kitchen Bar for semi-private gatherings.

Another shift Felton highlights is the growing number of clients pairing business with celebration: “December used to be dominated by evening events, but more teams are opting to combine meetings with their Christmas gatherings. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the year, strengthen relationships and make time together count.”

Quick Tips for Booking Christmas Events

Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner or a large-scale celebration, Searcys’ event teams recommend:

    • Plan early! Prime dates and standout spaces go fast
    • Spend with intention. Choose details that have impact and versatility
    • Create a ‘moment’! Something tangible or shareable guests will remember
    • Set the tone on arrival. First impressions establish the atmosphere
    • Choose a clear theme. It adds cohesion and makes the event visually memorable
    • Incorporate brand identity. Colour, tone and design elevate company culture
    • Be inventive with food and drink. From Champagne receptions to multi-course meals

As the season unfolds, one thing is clear: expectations around Christmas events are evolving, and organisers are seeking experiences that feel thoughtful, personalised and worth gathering for. With a strong demand, clients are increasingly exploring new formats, and Searcys is watching a promising trajectory take shape.

Looking ahead, the team is optimistic. If this year’s momentum is any indication, 2026 may bring an even earlier surge in enquiries, more creative briefs and a continued shift toward elevated, experience-led celebrations, a trend Searcys is more than ready to meet.
