  • Raise a Glass: Celebrate English Wine Week with Searcys

    28 May 2025

This June, Searcys invites you to raise a glass to the very best of British winemaking in honour of English Wine Week. Taking place from 21st to 29th June, this national celebration champions the quality, craft, and character of English wine — and at Searcys, with our long-standing tradition of celebrating great food and drink, we’re proud to mark this occasion in true style.

An English Growers Wine Evening at Searcys Westminster

On Tuesday 24th June, Searcys Bar and Brasserie at Westminster will mark English Wine Week with an exclusive dinner and English sparkling wine masterclass, pairing standout Home Counties cuvées with a seasonal menu of British cuisine and produce.

Overlooking Parliament Square, Searcys Bar and Brasserie at Westminster is located within Surveyors House, set in the heart of Whitehall beside the Institute for Chartered Surveyors. Running from the 21st to the 29th June, English Wine Week celebrates the growing profile and prestige of English wine, with events across the country highlighting its quality, diversity and craftsmanship.

The evening will be hosted by Searcys’ Head of Sparkling, Martin Dibben. Guests will begin with a rooftop English sparkling reception featuring Domaine Evremond’s Classic Cuvée, enjoyed with sweeping views of the Palace of Westminster. Dinner follows downstairs in the Bolney room with Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2019, paired with Chargrilled Wye Valley asparagus, duck egg mousse and broad bean pesto. The main course features English rump of lamb with pressed shoulder and Roscoff vegetables, served alongside Chapel Down Grand Reserve 2019. Pudding pairs Louis Pommery Rosé Brut with Chapel Down Brut jelly, strawberries and elderflower cream. Ambassadors from each winery will be on hand to share stories and insights into the wines, their terroirs and the story behind each bottle.

On the event, Martin says: “I am delighted to celebrate English Wine Week by bringing together those who know the grapes and land best to share the stories and insights behind their sparkling wines. This dinner underscores Searcys’ commitment to and specialism in English wine, following the launch of our own English Sparkling Wine in partnership with Greyfriars Vineyard, launched in commemoration of our 175th anniversary in 2022.”

Through their exclusive partnership with Greyfriars Vineyard, Surrey, Searcys has brought English wine to their restaurants across the country. The Searcys English Sparkling Wine is a fresh vintage with peach and zest on the nose and a baked brioche finish, whilst the Pump Room Classic Cuvée – with creamy pear notes and a rich pastry palate – is new and exclusive to their collection.

In Conversation: Martin Dibben Meets Nicola Bates, CEO of WineGB

To mark the occasion, Martin Dibben sat down for an exclusive conversation with Nicola Bates, CEO of WineGB — the national body promoting English and Welsh wines.

In their discussion, Nicola shares her expert perspective on the extraordinary rise of English wine, from the rapid expansion of vineyards to the global recognition of locally produced sparkling wines. With stories from the field and reflections on where the industry is headed, the conversation offers a fascinating look into why now is the time to celebrate English wine — and where it might take us next.
