Now Taking Reservations: Locatelli at The National Gallery Opens This May

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Locatelli at The National Gallery, a new Italian restaurant by Giorgio and Plaxy Locatelli, in partnership with Searcys. Set to open on Saturday 10th May, this exciting new launch marks a major moment for London’s dining scene—and reservations are now officially open!

Located in the newly transformed Sainsbury Wing, Locatelli offers guests an elevated yet welcoming dining experience that brings Giorgio’s signature Italian cuisine to the heart of one of the world’s most treasured art institutions.

A Celebration of Italian Food, Art, and Culture
Open daily during gallery hours, Locatelli will seat 80 guests in the main dining room and 30 in the bar area. The menu, thoughtfully crafted by Giorgio alongside Executive Chef Imma Savinelli, celebrates the vibrancy and heritage of Italian cuisine.

Born and raised in Southern Italy, Imma brings passion and deep culinary expertise to the kitchen, shaped by years of experience at Locanda Locatelli. Her dishes reflect not only tradition but a fresh approach that beautifully complements the iconic surroundings of the National Gallery.

Expect seasonal antipasti, handmade pastas like Braised veal ravioli with parsley gremolada and Pappardelle with broad beans, pecorino and rucola, as well as indulgent secondi including Roast chicken alla cacciatora and Roast ribeye steak. Naturally, it wouldn’t be Locatelli without dessert—don’t miss the Tiramisu, Lemon and mascarpone cake, and Custard and fresh fruit tart.

Bar Giorgio: Espresso and Maritozzi Moments
Also opening on the ground floor is Bar Giorgio, a charming espresso bar perfect for a pre-gallery pick-me-up or a quick Roman-style snack. The highlight here is Giorgio’s maritozzi—fluffy brioche buns filled with indulgent sweet and savoury flavours. Think Burrata, mortadella and pistachio or Chantilly cream with chocolate, pistachio or custard. Coffee lovers will be in heaven with espresso curated by Marco Arrigo of Bar Termini, brewed from premium beans by London roastery Kofee.

All-Italian Wine List Curated by Experts
To complete the experience, the wine and drinks list is an all-Italian affair, curated by Martin Dibben, Head of Champagne & Wine for Searcys, and Virgilio Gennaro, long-time collaborator of Giorgio and Plaxy. Expect fine bottles from historic vineyards such as Broglia in Gavi, Umani Ronchi in Marche, and Ca’ del Bosco in Franciacorta.
