Searcys Opens Its Doors to Brand New Events Venue 41 Portland Place
11 November 2024We are thrilled to announce that 41 Portland Place has opened its doors after major refurbishment as the latest addition to Searcys’ iconic portfolio of brasseries, bars and event spaces located around the capital.
41 Portland Place is a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse in Marylebone, renowned for its elegant architecture, high-end boutiques and charming up-scale atmosphere just a stone’s throw from Oxford Circus, Regents Park, Great Portland Street, and Marylebone stations.
41 Portland Place boasts eight bright and airy versatile event spaces, including a chic rooftop terrace. Its period and modern rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art hybrid meeting equipment to host a wide variety of events from conferences, press and product launches, to dinners and receptions, parties, and weddings, accommodating up to 150 guests.
Originally designed by James Adam in 1773 and a private home until 1939, the building boasts many original features. The period rooms on the ground and first floor feature high, ornate ceilings, antique mirrors, marble fireplaces, and large sash windows providing an elegant and sophisticated backdrop for any event.
Meanwhile bright, modern meeting spaces provide a perfect location, with minimalist interiors and the ability to customise the space to meet your requirements. The new ground floor conference suite provides state-of-the-art multimedia audio visual equipment and sophisticated lighting control suitable for a variety of functions from panel discussions to dinners and parties. The conference suite can be used in conjunction with its own ‘green room’ for speakers and meeting hosts plus the option to book an adjacent marble-floored room for welcoming guests, attendee registrations, dining, or breakout discussions.
The building has been refurbished to enhance its environmental sustainability, adding energy efficient lighting, insulation and an external heat pump to reduce energy use. This eco-friendly update respects the building’s historic Grade II* status while aligning with Westminster’s carbon reduction goals.
At the heart of our catering operations is Searcys Executive Head Chef, Irmantas Udra, who oversees the creation of wholesome and nutritious menus that are meticulously designed and crafted with exceptional attention to detail and creativity. Searcys offers a wide array of indulgent dishes and extraordinary cocktails that reflect the stylish essence of the venue. Its commitment to sustainability is evident through our partnerships with local suppliers and our embrace of contemporary food and beverage innovations. Notably, our Searcys English Sparkling Wine is expertly produced by the award-winning Greyfriars Vineyard in Surrey, and it pairs exquisitely with a house-favourite canapé featuring ash-tapioca crisps, gin-cured trout, lime crème fraîche, and caviar.
41 Portland Place has hosted many prestigious events including product launches from Peroni, a catalogue open house for The White Company and innovation showcase for L’Oréal. The venue offers a versatile, blank canvas space with its adaptable design, that allows clients to brand the space to fit their vision. Its flexible layout and modern amenities provide the freedom to create a unique and memorable experience.
41 Portland Place is the headquarters building of the Academy of Medical Sciences, whose vision is good health for all supported by the best research and evidence. Profits generated from event hire and catering at the venue fund projects and programmes to deliver their mission to improve the health of people everywhere.
From sipping on a refreshing summer cocktail on the tranquil terrace amongst the cityscape of Marylebone to a glass of warming mulled wine in a festive fine-dining atmosphere, 41 Portland Place caters to any and all occasions.
