Tour de Searcys 2023: London to Champagne Charity Ride
3 June 2023‘Tour de Searcys’ is back and this time it’s bigger and better than ever! Searcys is getting set to embark on a 300-mile charity bike ride from London to Champagne this July, with the target to raise £30,000. This is the second Tour de Searcys, the first one organised by the company last year, to mark its 175th birthday. Last summer, the team cycled from London to Bath, covering 175km between its venues.
The ‘Tour de Searcys’ is led by Managing Director Paul Jackson, with 14 members of the team taking to the roads for a 300-mile cycle across four days, starting from Inner Temple in London on Wednesday 12th July and ending in the town of Epernay in Champagne, home to Searcys own Selected Cuvée Champagne.
The team will be welcomed by its partner Champagne Houses in Epernay, with Perrier-Jouët offering a glass as the cyclists pass along the Avenue de Champagne before they cross the finishing line at Chateau la Marquetterie as guests of the Taittinger family.
Following the success of last year’s fundraising bike ride, which raised £17,500, Searcys aims to donate £30,000 this year. Chosen charities include Adopt at School from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, which provides culinary lessons to children, Hotel School working with vulnerable and homeless people to get them back into hospitality, and Just One Tree, which will be planting one tree for every mile of the trip to create a ‘Searcys Forest’.
Managing Director Paul Jackson comments, “Giving back is at the heart of our brand and this year we are going international with our charity bike ride. Experts in Champagne, it is only fitting that this year’s event takes us all the way to Epernay, the heart of Champagne region. I am proud to be leading our team across the Channel to support causes close to our hearts which align with Searcys’ company values and support our local communities.”
