Searcys and Fish for kings
29 March 2020ABOUT
Fish for Kings are top quality hand-cut fish suppliers, with all fish sourced from family trawlers or as locally as possible. Driven by a passion for sustainability and freshness, the company focus on quality and seasonal seafood from across the UK seashores.
The company began on humble beginnings, first founded in 1998 by Wayne Wharton, a fisherman by trade. Mastering the trade on fishing boats, Wayne learned hands-on the fish industry through fish trawlers, before heading to London to work in some of the capitals most prestigious fishmongers, including the ever-popular counter at Harrods. With this wealth of knowledge and experience, Wayne founded Fish for Kings with the intention of supplying the capitals premier hotels, restaurants, and corporate dining establishments with the freshest, finest quality seafood available, all prepared on a daily basis.
Fish for Kings has since established a fantastic relationship as one of the best suppliers, and still supply a large part of the native fish direct from two Wharton family fishing boats, ‘Our Josie Grace’ and ‘Our Olivia Belle’. The two large trawlers are part of a co-operative, which works towards the sustainable fishing of the Bristol Channel.
A champion of the sustainability approach which Searcys are working towards, Fish for Kings works with us to promote our drive to become more sustainable. The company also runs day boats for educational trips, as well as supports the reduction in the overfishing of our waters.
For our London venues, the bonus of working with Kings for Fish is locality, with Billingsgate Market being the perfect location for us to get the best produce as soon as it arrives off the vessel.
