Burger Buns Recipe

Prep time – 4 hrs
Cooking time –15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
- 700g strong white bread flour
- 400ml milk
- 50g butter
- 20g salt
- 20g sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 packet dried yeast
Method:
- Place the flour and the butter in a bowl and rub together
- Add the salt, sugar and dried yeast and mix together
- Slightly warm the milk and whisk the egg
- Make a well in the flour and pour in the milk
- Add the egg and mix thoroughly to form a dough, if the dough is to wet add a little more flour
- Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead thoroughly for 10 minutes
- Return the dough to the bowl, cover with cling film and leave in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size
- Turn the dough out onto the work surface and cut to size, this should make approx. 8 large burger buns
- With your hand roll each piece into a ball then press down and shape into a bun
- Place on a lined baking sheet and leave to rise for another 30 minutes
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds
- Bake in a hot oven gas mark 8 for approx. 15 minutes until golden brown
- Remove from oven and allow to cool
