  • The Largest Collection of Magnums Served by the Glass in the UK

    9 March 2020

Size Matters as St Pancras Champagne Bar by Searcys celebrates the roaring 2020s with the largest collection of magnums served by the glass in the UK

Size matters when it comes to Champagne, and Europe’s longest Champagne Bar, St Pancras by Searcys, will be sizing up its Champagne, pouring all Brut collection exclusively from magnum bottles throughout April. Reminiscent of the decadent 1920s, St Pancras will be celebrating the 2020s with plenty of bubbles served in coupes.

Leading experts in Champagne and sparkling wine, Searcys will serve all Brut Champagne by the glass from a magnum at its Champagne Bar at St Pancras throughout April, to allow all its guests to enjoy a greater tasting experience. In what is set to be the largest collection of magnums poured at a bar in the UK, guests are invited to share the love (and the bottle) this spring.

Known to be superior in taste, magnum Champagne ages better in the bottle due to the size, maturing more slowly and for a longer period of time, which in turn enriches the taste. Often seen as the best from a Champagne producer, a magnum pour results in a more complex and harmonious taste, enhancing the Champagne experience for drinkers. Only available as Brut Champagnes bottles will include; a Lanson Père et Fils, a Taittinger Brut Réserve, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée, Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, and a Carte d’Or Brut from sustainable Champagne house Drappier. English sparkling wine will be represented by magnums of Nyetimber Classic Cuvée.

A showstopper in size, a magnum adds a touch of theatre to any occasion and an Instagrammable moment for the guests. Double the volume of standard bottle, each bottle pours 12 glasses, making it the perfect accompaniment to group parties and dining.

Alongside the exclusive serves, guests will be offered a choice of glassware with Coupe vs. Flute; choosing from the traditional flute, or as a nod of the 1920s, a coupe.

Reminiscent of images from 1920s parties and movie stars, guests can celebrate with bubbles in the original coupe; the classic glassware first made for Champagne (rumoured to be modelled on Marquise de Pompadour) and is designed to be more taste orientated. Its wide bowl design gives a fuller taste, emphasising the full body of the wine above the bubbles. For those who prefer a bit more fizz, experts favour the flute, which enhances the aroma and flow of the bubbles.

Available at the St Pancras Champagne Bar, magnums will be available from 1 -30 April 2020, starting from £10.50 per glass, or from £140 a bottle. Full range available with tasting notes below:
