Job Description

We have recently been appointed as the official caterer for the Design Museum in Kensington, which is a unique 1960s Grade II* listed building on Kensington High Street, in the same year that the museum is named European Museum of the Year 2018!

We are currently looking for a General Manager to join us who will proactively lead from the front in managing the contract through your team. Our catering offer consists of a coffee bar on the ground floor which provides a grab & go offer, a café which will provide casual dining at its best, with a seasonal menu serving British classics.

We will also be catering for events as the museum looks to grow this element of their business. Therefore, the ideal candidate for this role will have a strong and successful background of running an events based business to support our client with this exciting growth. The Design Museum features six beautiful spaces for hire, including the iconic atrium and the 202 seat theatre style Bakala Auditorium.

The Design Museum champions design and to partner this, we are looking to speak with individuals who can champion exceptional delivery of quality drink, food, professionalism and customer service to all of the museums guests.

Key competencies:

  • Communication –Build a strong rapport with the client and support team, to ensure that a professional and reliable relationship is established
    ·Operational –Accountable for managing all elements of the catering contract, ensuring standards are set and upheld with a consistent review process to ensure development
    ·Sales – You will have a proactive approach to sales & marketing through a strategic plan, and take full accountability for all events
    ·Financial – Full P&L accountability; ensure that the client’s needs are met, in addition to your own financial targets, and identify new commercial and financial opportunities
    ·People – Day to day management of a core team; in addition to a casual work force who will be required to support various events
    ·Culture – Drive an engaging culture which is customer focussed at all times
