Searcys are delighted to cater at Kenwood House, where we operate a retail café and events offer at this beautiful venue. Kenwood House is located on the edge of Hampstead Heath, surrounded by tranquil landscaped gardens – this truly is one of London’s hidden gems!

We are recruiting for a General Manager to join Searcys on a full time permanent basis, reporting directly to the Operations Director. This is a great opportunity for an experienced manager who has had previous experience of managing a similar offer, in addition to familiarity of working within a client-facing role. You will be a natural leader, with enthusiasm and commitment to delivering exceptional food and service through your team against the venues budget.

1. Role overview

At Kenwood House, you will take accountability for The Brew House and Stewards Room in addition to any events that take place. Our food is always fresh and seasonal to charm customers that visit the Heath. From refreshments and pastries, sandwiches and salads, to our Afternoon tea packages on the terrace, and whilst keeping tradition – we offer seasonal offers such as a barbeque menu every weekend on the terrace during the warmer months and our enviable British Roasts for Sunday lunch.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Communication –Build a strong rapport with the client and support team, to ensure that a professional and reliable relationship is established
  • Operational –Accountable for managing all elements of the catering contract, ensuring standards are set and upheld with a consistent review process to ensure development
  • Sales – You will have a proactive approach to sales & marketing through a strategic plan, and take full accountability for all events
  • Financial – Full P&L accountability; ensure that the client’s needs are met, in addition to your own financial targets, and identify new commercial and financial opportunities
  • People – Day to day management of a core team in addition to a casual team as and when required
  • Culture – Drive an engaging culture which is customer focussed at all times

2. Ideal candidate

  • Previous experience of working within a client facing role with experience of a retail catering offer
  • Able to work within a fast paced environment and competent in managing their time effectively
  • Previous P&L accountability
  • Strong business acumen, and motivated in driving sales and revenue for the business
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Exposure of building and maintaining relationships with a client is desirable
  • Passionate about coaching and developing your team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about delivering memorable moments for guests
  • Positive “can-do” attitude
